Around 600 million Harry Potter books have been sold worldwide since the first Harry Potter volume was published in England 26 years ago. Hundreds of millions of people have seen the films. There are Harry Potter video games, cards and board games, heaps of fan stuff from bedding to the Harry Potter Lego world, a Harry Potter play and so on. And a TV series is currently being made from the seven books. Things got off to a modest start: only 500 books were printed from the first volume. For later volumes, fans waited in long queues in front of the bookstores on the first day on sale.
