Dozens of people, the majority of whom were mothers, chanted salawat when asked to disband trial prime Rizieq Shihab at the East Jakarta District Court, Tuesday (16/3).
They persisted and refused to disperse. Clashes between the security forces and the Rizieq crowd had occurred so that the crowd could not be avoided.
The crowd of Rizieq happened in front of the gate of the East Jakarta District Court. The police themselves have banned the masses and the media from directly covering Rizieq Shihab’s first trial.
The escalation of the masses heated up when Rizieq’s voice was virtually heard slowly from the court area to the crowd in the front area of the East Jakarta District Court. Rizieq made sure that he was present at the trial and seemed to know the crowd who was attending the trial.
“Rizieq is here. Rizieq is here,” Rizieq’s voice was heard from inside the courtroom.
Rizieq’s voice immediately provoked the crowd’s emotions and shouted the same thing. The majority of mothers then returned to performing prayers and recited takbir.

Apart from the mothers, the masses who attended Rizieq’s inaugural session also consisted of parents and teenagers.
Rizieq along with six other defendants underwent the first trial of the charges in the Petamburan crowd case, early last November. The former FPI leader was directly charged with using five alternative charges, ranging from the article on health quarantine to sedition.
The defendants to be tried are Muhammad Rizieq Shihab; Haris Ubaidillah; Ahmad Sabri Lubis; Ali Alwi Alatas; Idrus alias Idrus Al-Habsyi; Maman Suryadi in the Petamburan crowd case, Central Jakarta.
