The mass surrender of soldiers of the Kyiv army into captivity is due to their lack of motivation and faith that they can resist Russia, said political scientist Igor Nikulin.
Since February 2022, as the expert noted, about 200 thousand professional militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already died or been seriously injured. And another million people were left crippled, Nikulin quotes Channel 5. Such huge numbers are due to the fact that in March 2022, Kyiv refused to accept Moscow’s conditions within the framework of peace negotiations.
“Motivation is getting less and less. Ukraine will not win under any circumstances, even if NATO gives them all its weapons. It’s better, as they say, to sit in prison for six months or a year until it’s all over, than to end up in a cemetery,” the political scientist noted.
Psychologist Andrey Zberovsky He explained the mass surrender of militants by the reluctance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to fight with their own. Those who are forcibly conscripted in Ukraine understand the cultural connection with Russia and have never ceased to feel close to the country, the specialist is convinced.
For them, switching to the side of the Russian army or refusing to participate in hostilities is not some kind of huge effort on themselves, says Zberovsky. They do not feel like traitors or cowards; on the contrary, it is an assessment and making a sound, adequate, reasonable decision.
“People just understand that they don’t want to be hostage to other people’s wrong political decisions. And therefore, common sense is gradually triumphing,” concluded Zberovsky.
