The man hailed on the nationalist march in Katowice. Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz comments

People who use Nazi symbolism most often think of themselves as patriots, refer to Polishness, and at the same time use the most anti-Polish symbolism imaginable – former Prime Minister Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz said in “Fakt after Faktach” on TVN24. In this way, he commented on the events of the anti-LGBT march that took place on Friday in Katowice. In his opinion, in such cases the police should react immediately.

On Friday, an anti-LGBT march was held in Katowice. During the march of the nationalists, almost 30 people were identified, six of them were fined, and two applications were made to the court for punishment. The photos of this demonstration show one of the participants making the gesture of a Nazi greeting while standing in front of the policemen. However, the police did not stop him immediately, and only after the march. The 26-year-old was charged with “publicly promoting fascism and inciting hatred”.

Cimoszewicz: I don’t understand why Nazi symbolism can happen in Poland

This matter was commented on by the MEP of the European Coalition and former Prime Minister Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24.

– On the one hand, it is about the return of this fascist and Nazi symbolism. Swastikas and hailing appear from time to time. In addition, there is the question of the reaction of state authorities, including the prosecutor’s office. The prosecutor’s office in Bialystok a few years ago considered hailing to be something completely different – a Roman greeting – he said.

In his opinion, “if this type of reaction occurs in public authorities, and those responsible for compliance with the law, such situations will repeat themselves”.

– I honestly admit that I am a bit helpless, because I cannot understand why this Nazi symbolism can even happen in Poland. People who use it most often think of themselves as patriots, refer to Polishness and so on, and at the same time use the most anti-Polish symbolism that can be imagined – said Cimoszewicz.

“Police should react”

The former prime minister stressed that “the police should react” immediately. – I cannot assess this particular case, because I do not know how many policemen were there, whether they were dealing with an aggressive crowd, or whether a single policeman could immediately stop this hajling man. It is difficult to judge, but the reaction should undoubtedly take place – he emphasized.

– We know how the police behaved, for example, when a few years ago a group of women sat down in the street, not wanting to miss the so-called independence march, i.e. the nationalist march in Warsaw. They were brutally removed from the road by the police and all these women were put on trial, he reminded.

He added that “the same is happening in Hajnówka”. – If people dare to silently protest against the annual nationalist marches in memory of the criminal, Bury’s genocide, they are removed by the police and brought to trial – said the TVN24 guest.

The new head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “is in a losing position for good morning”

Cimoszewicz also commented statements by Zbigniew Rau, appointed as the minister of foreign affairswho wrote last, among other things, that he is against “LGBT ideology” as well as “the civilization of death”. He claimed that Europe, several decades after the commencement of the moral revolution in 1968, had “legalized zoophilia”, “euthanasia of the weakest, the oldest and the ailing”, “postulates of legalizing pedophilia”.

– Of course, all embassies of foreign countries in Warsaw have already prepared an opinion, information, description of the new minister of foreign affairs for their governments. The foreign ministers of these countries already know who they are dealing with and nothing will cancel out the events that took place – said the TVN24 guest.

In his opinion “Mr. Rau is completely unknown to anyone.” – I remember him as a voivode who he wanted to block Mrs. Zdanowska from the local electionsthat she would not be elected mayor of Łódź. These facts from the past are known and will be remembered, said the former prime minister.

According to Cimoszewicz, the new head of diplomacy “is in a losing position on a good day”. – He won’t be treated well. Everyone will remember that this is the homophobe who made such public statements – he said.
