The Latvian men’s volleyball team lost to Tartu in the second of three test matches with the Estonian national team on Friday.

Playing with reservists on both sides, Latvia conceded to the Estonian national team with 0-3 (23:25, 17:25, 20:25).

The team cannot be helped in these test games by Tom Schwann, who previously suffered a leg injury, but is now in the final phase of recovery.

The next game will also take place in Tartu. It will not be possible to observe it in person. The game organizers plan to broadcast all three matches on the website “postimees.ee”.

After the test matches in Estonia, the Latvian national team’s preparations for the European Championship qualifying tournament (August 30 to September 6) will continue at home, when on August 22 and 23 at the Elektrum Olympic Center they will compete with the Polish top league team Radomas “Cerrad Enea Czarni”.

The European Championship qualifying tournament in Group D will take place in the capital of Cyprus, Nicosia, where the matches in two rounds will take place from August 30 to September 6. In addition to Latvia and hostess Cyprus, Spain and Moldova will also take part in it.

The qualifying tournament for the European Championship in Group D will be the only one in which both rings will be played at the same time in one country, and the only one that will be played in late August and early September, the finalists in the other groups being determined in January next year.

The final tournament is scheduled for August and September 2021 in Poland, the Czech Republic, Finland and Estonia. Four home teams and the top eight teams from previous European Championships in Serbia, Slovenia, France, Russia, Italy, Ukraine, Germany and Belgium have already secured a place in the top 24 teams in Europe. The remaining 12 places in the final tournament will be taken by the winners of seven groups and the five best second place winners.
