The largest fleet of electric cars in our country is looming. Rohlik.cz bets on electricity supplies from China

The Chinese utility model Maxus eDeliver 3 is heading to the fleet of a large online supermarket. It is powered by a 90 kW electric motor using batteries with a capacity of up to 52.5 kWh.

So far, electromobility on the Czech market mainly attracts companies that are the primary operators of electric cars in our country. Even so, such vehicles are still rather of interest, because on the Czech market, electric cars are at least favored, at least for now. Even so, one giant company fleet of electric cars is now emerging. It is being built by the online supermarket Rohlik.cz.

He announced that by 2025 he would deliver customer orders exclusively through electric cars. For this reason, by the end of the year, it will use 42 electric vehicles in its fleet to distribute purchases; by the end of 2022, it intends to purchase a total of 400. This is the largest project of its kind in the Czech environment.

“I am convinced that next year we will have the largest fleet of electric cars in the Czech Republic and probably in the whole of Central Europe,” says Olin Novák, head of Rohlik.cz, who took over the management of the company’s domestic branch only last month.

Rohlik.cz chose a really unconventional solution in the Czech environment. The Chinese delivery is originally heading to the fleet Maxus eDeliver 3 from the SAIC concern. The SWB version is a 4,555 mm long car, capable of holding a load of up to 4.8 m3. It is powered by an electric motor with an output of 90 kW, which relies on batteries with a capacity of 35 kWh or 52.5 kWh, depending on the version. These are enough to cover up to 243 km according to the WLTP methodology. In an urban environment, according to the WLTP City methodology, they have to travel up to 344 km.

Such a range should be enough for the company. Her courier vehicles travel up to 250 km a day. The main reason for acquiring Chinese vehicles is not so much in the rich equipment, but mainly in the fact that they were immediately available, from the importer’s stock. Rohlik.cz would have to wait a long time for other models, due to production problems caused by a lack of production components.

In any case, the company does not rule out that its company will change in the future. Rohlik.cz is also testing electrical Renault Kangoo ZE, while he intends to test his new generation planned for 2022. He will also test Opel Vivaro-e or Mercedes-Benz eVito and planned for the future Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo.

In addition to building a fleet of electric cars, Rohlik.cz is also thinking about the necessary network of chargers. In its warehouses in Prague and Brno, it plans to build 400 charging points for its electric cars. The energy company E.On will help.
