The number of corona infections in Belgium has dropped below a thousand a day for the first time, reports health institute Sciensano. Between 3 and 9 June, 984 new infections with the coronavirus were registered daily in our southern neighbors. This is a decrease of 38 percent compared to the previous week. In total, more than a million people have been infected in Belgium since the start of the pandemic. It has clearly lost momentum in recent weeks.

Every day, 52.3 people are still hospitalized, a decrease of thirty percent compared to a week earlier. A total of 721 corona patients are still in hospital, 285 of whom are in intensive care. An average of 9.7 Belgians died from corona every day, a decrease of 26.1 percent.
