The International Court of Justice cannot apply the article “aggression” in relation to the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine

The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spoke about the statute of the International Criminal Court.

The International Criminal Court of the United Nations in The Hague cannot apply Article “aggressionregarding the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.

“In its (International Criminal Court) statute it is written that one of the crimes on which it can judge is aggression. But in practice, purely for legal reasons, it cannot apply this article specifically to the case of Ukraine and Russia,” he said. Kuleba.

Recall that Kuleba also states that Russia is focused on the war against Ukraine, and not on negotiations. According to him, this is evidenced by the artillery strikes and missile terror of the Russian troops against the Ukrainians.

The Office of the President stated that statements about the readiness of the Russian Federation for negotiations can be regarded as an invitation to surrender. Mykhailo Podolyak said that negotiations can take place only after a ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine.
