The German newspaper “Bild” said that the political chaos in the United States will lead to negative consequences for military aid to Ukraine.
The newspaper quoted military expert Thomas Thaner as saying, “The chaos in the United States does not bode well for Ukraine.”
Thaner pointed out that the new US budget is “short-term” and does not include new aid for Kiev, as it is still possible to fulfill supplies that have already been approved, “but new aid packages are frozen.”
He stressed that the decisive negative moment for Kiev’s military future “will be the continuation of the internal crisis in the United States for three months.”
On Tuesday, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller announced that the United States had frozen projects that finance long-term aid program contracts for Ukraine, “due to Congress’ failure to allocate funds for that.”
Last week, the US Congress reached an agreement on financing the US government to avoid closing federal institutions in the United States, but it deleted the provisions for supporting Kiev from the temporary agreement, which lasts only 45 days.
