Madrid, 07 Apr. 21. Amecopress.- The Ministry of Culture and Sports, through the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), launches the campaign ‘This is Spanish cinema’ with an annual video-summary of the Spanish productions released in cinemas and festivals in 2020. This Central spot is complemented by two more thematic videos. One of them is focused on films directed by women and another dedicated to short films.
The ICAA aims to influence the talent, variety and vitality of Spanish cinema, as well as its spirit of resistance against those created by the health crisis. “Given the postponement of major international premieres, Spanish cinema has been the locomotive of the billboard,” said Beatriz Navas, general director of ICAA.
The spot ‘This is Spanish cinema’ shows a selection of the most outstanding films of 2020, both for their box office success, and for their participation in national and international festivals.
The video dedicated to films directed by women underlines the leading role of female filmmakers in the latest harvest of Spanish cinema, something that has been recognized at the award ceremonies in the first quarter of 2021. The one dedicated to short film claims a format of the that not only are emerging filmmakers and filmmakers availing themselves in their first steps, but it constitutes a universe of its own in constant evolution and a breeding ground for creative and industry innovation.
