The head of the Maronite League, Ambassador Khalil Karam, condemned the heinous crime committed against the young man, Elie Michel Matta, in the southern town of Aqnit, in cold blood and with unprecedented brutality. And he considered that this crime increases our insistence on the need to find a quick solution to the dossier of displaced Syrians in Lebanon, because it represents a threat to security and destabilizes the pillars of internal stability, and a threat to the identity of Lebanon and its pluralistic demographic character. This is what the countries that are still putting pressure on Lebanon to keep the displaced people on our land and integrate them into our society should know.
While we thank the Lebanese security services for their swift and effective action which led to the discovery of the perpetrator, we share the feelings of pain, anguish and anger with the family of the murdered boy, Elie Michel Matta, for this tragedy which has befallen them , asking God to have mercy on him.
