This summer marks 10 years since the arrival of Ferran Soriano al Manchester City as CEO. A decade in which the former vice president of the FC Barcelona From 2003 to 2008, he has gone around the Mancuniano club like a sock. He took it as an average club in England, with hardly any prestige in Europe nor global fans and today, following the guidelines of his famous book ‘The ball does not enter by chance’, it is one of the five major European clubs, having doubled in revenue.
This season you can win the fourth Premier League of the last five years, something that only the Manchester United. Qualified last season for the first time in its history for the final of the Champions League, the City stands out above all for the quality of his football, an imposition of Little Begiristain, first hand in hand with Pilgrims and now with that of Pep Guardiola.
But City It’s much more than that. It is part of a business group devised and created by itself Ferran Soriano and property of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan: the City Football Group (CFG), whose umbrella rests and serves ten clubs. The Manchester City FC (100%), Melbourne City FC (100%), Montevideo City Torque (100%), Lommel SK (99%), New York City FC (80%), Mumbai City FC (65%), Girona FC (47 %), Sichuan Jiuniu FC (29.7%), Yokohama F. Marinos (20%) and Troyes AC (100%) are owned and participated in by CFG.
A model of success that experienced its peak in 2021, when four of those teams won the leagues of their respective countries: Indian Super League (India), MLS (United States), Premier League (England) and A-League (Australia). Great news that the brilliant mind of Ferran Soriano is at the forefront of this project.
