The Government insists that Spain is safe and asks countries for prudence

Madrid, Jul 13 (EFE) .- The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, insisted this Tuesday that Spain is a safe destination and has asked countries for caution in some of the recommendations they are making about traveling to Spanish territory.

In the press conference after the Council of Ministers, Maroto stated that to analyze the impact of the coronavirus now it is necessary to address not only the Accumulated Incidence (AI) but also the hospital pressure, “which at this time is very low” and the progress of the vaccination process.

To convey this message, the Government is strengthening communication “so that we are not cataloged only by AI”, which is not the most important thing to determine the impact of the virus.

He has said that Spain “is winning the battle” because there are already 21 million people vaccinated against the coronavirus and practically 60% of the population has received at least one dose.

For this reason, Spain is a safe destination and, in the opinion of the Minister of Tourism, the measures to guarantee safe mobility are working very well, both the covid certificate and the possibility of accessing Spain by citizens from outside the European Union ( EU) as long as they are vaccinated.
