The Department of Labor, Social Affairs and Families has opened two disciplinary proceedings against two nursing homes in Barcelona, the Geriatric Hospital Mossèn Vidal i Aunós and the Bertran i Oriola residence, both publicly owned but managed by Eulen Servicios Sociosanitarios SA. The two files have been opened due to various irregularities detected in the management of residential centers and customer service during the health emergency caused by covid-19, sources from the Department have informed, which has initiated the files in the framework of the Social Law, although now it is the Department of Health that is in charge of the management of the residences.
According to the same sources, for these alleged infractions of the regulatory regulations of entities, services and social establishments, the management company faces sanctions that can range from a fine to suspension of service provision. These two residential centers, in which there were several deaths of the elderly due to coronaviruses and dozens of infected inmates and workers, have already been operated by the Generalitat during the epidemic and will continue for the next few weeks.
Assault on an old woman
The assisted residence Mossèn Vidal i Aunós, located in the Bordeta neighborhood, has a capacity for 112 elderly people, although it is currently at 52% occupancy. His address was already under investigation after two caregivers were filmed mistreating and abusing an 81-year-old woman.
