So far, Ukraine has not registered the enemy’s intentions to carry out an offensive from the territory of the Republic of Belarus, but is preparing for this.
Immediate threat of attack by Belarus still in Ukraine, but possible aggression options are being evaluated in the coming months.
In this regard the commander of the group of forces and means of defense of Kiev, Lieutenant General Alexander Pavlyuk said in an interview with “Suspilny”, published on January 7.
He noted that so far there is no threat of a direct re-offensive from the territory of Belarus, because the enemy lacks the necessary forces and means.
“There are some groups on the territory that is the border between Ukraine and Belarus. But, given our potential, they are unlikely to be successful. Everything that is being done now is hold our forces on the northern border so that we couldn’t transfer them east,” Pavlyuk explained.
According to him, Belarus is occupied by military forces that have most likely been stationed in training camps for a long time. The general believes that “there will be no future for Belarus as an independent country”.
“We considering possible options for aggression in the coming months. But for this it is necessary to transfer the appropriate forces and means, which are now being restored by Russia at their training grounds. So far we do not see such intentions, but we are preparing,” said the Kiev defense commander.
He also assured that the Ukrainian military constantly monitors the movement of the Russian invaders from the training grounds. The Ukrainian grouping on the border with Belarus is ready to meet the enemy.
“Around Kiev there are several lines of defense with a total length of about a thousand kilometers. There, on the basis of professional positions, long-term structures, a powerful defense system has been created,” Pavlyuk said.
Threat from Belarus
Recall, Pavlyuk earlier reported that in the event of an invasion from Belarus, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are planning to stop the enemy at the border. According to the general, the military-political leadership will have time to warn citizens in the event of a repeated attack on Kiev.
