The gendarmes of Eure-et-Loir have stepped up checks on the eve of New Year’s Eve

On the eve of New Year’s Eve, around twenty gendarmes from Eure-et-Loir were already on the ground, this Thursday, December 30, to carry out control operations on several major roads in the department.

Soldiers from the motorized platoon of Thivars and the motorized brigades of Janville, Dreux, Nogent-le-Rotrou and Châteaudun were mobilized, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at six checkpoints.

Posted on two sides of the RN 154, in Bonville, this Thursday, December 30, the gendarmes stepped up the checks at the request of the public prosecutor of Chartres. “This allows us to carry out investigations which can go as far as the seizure of the vehicle”, specifies Lieutenant Brice Dabard, who piloted the operation in Bonville.

The soldiers intercepted a man who was driving his car despite the administrative cancellation of his driver’s license. His vehicle, registered in the Loiret, should be confiscated for at least seven days.

Another motorist, who was driving without a license, tested positive for narcotics and had a repeat offense. “Narcotics were inside the vehicle,” notes Lieutenant Brice Dabard. Aged about fifty, the driver, originally from Dordogne, was taken into custody at the Thivars motorway peloton.

For the evening of New Year’s Eve, 121 gendarmes will be on the bridge in the department. “The objective is to fight against road insecurity and to prevent illegal gatherings, such as rave parties, from being organized”, explains Lieutenant-Colonel Gabriel Lothe, second in command of the Eure departmental gendarmerie group. -and-Dormouse.
