Suspect (24) denies having shot a toddler: ‘This could have ended so differently’ Inland

According to the officer, the suspect Amsterdammer waited with his bicycle for the group of men on the evening of May 10, at the shopping center at Kraaiennest metro station in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. He then shot at the men at least five times while cycling. It was busy on the street. The toddler was in a pram with her sister, pushed by their mother. She walked right behind the men the suspect allegedly targeted. Other than the child, no other people were hit.

The suspect denies being the shooter. As far as justice is concerned, that is against better judgment: one of the bullet casings found on the spot contained DNA from the man. When he was arrested a week after the shooting, police found a bag containing a firearm and a bicycle key. The suspect’s DNA was also found on the weapon. According to forensic experts, it is very likely that the shell casings found were shot with the weapon found with the man. There are also camera images of a cycling man. These have not led to recognition of the suspect, but striking features of the bicycle have been registered. The bicycle key found fits on such a bicycle.

“A cowardly and horrible act”, the OM qualifies the violence. Justice also wants the man to serve 133 days that were previously conditionally imposed on him in another case.

The court will rule on January 13.
