The document is in the final stages of preparation before being submitted to parliament. It will allow Ukrainians from the EU and NATO countries to participate in the life of Ukraine.
The Cabinet is finishing work on a bill on dual citizenship and will soon be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yevgeny Yenin Radio Liberty.
He clarified that now the draft document is being studied by specialists from the Ministry of Justice.
“On behalf of the President, we are actively working to resolve the issue of multiple citizenship. Outside of Ukraine, there are tens of millions of ethnic Ukrainians who would like to more actively participate in cultural, political and economic processes on the territory of our state. the relevant bill, which, I hope, will be promptly considered by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, “he announced.
According to the Deputy Minister, it is important to find the right balance that will allow Ukrainians not to renounce another citizenship when it comes to EU or NATO countries. We will also talk about the acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship.
Speaking about the timing of the appearance of the bill, Yenin specified that such a document could be seen in less than a year.
