Tahir Şahin of the CHP, who served as mayor of Izmir’s Menemen district for four terms, was having dinner with his friends at a restaurant in Yeni Foça. Şahin, who was also the Honorary President of Menemen Sports Club, was attacked at around 22:00.
REMOVED TO THE HOSPITAL
An intruder who came to the restaurant approached Şahin and fired with a pistol. When it was learned that Şahin was injured by bullets hitting his hips and feet, the masked attacker escaped from the scene.

Şahin was given first aid intervention by the citizens of the area. Şahin was taken to Aliağa State Hospital by ambulance arriving at the scene. Sahin, who was treated here, was later transferred to Menemen State Hospital, while the gendarmerie and police took action to arrest the attacker.
