This is not the first time that the national team has gone down on its knees as a team.
Already during the autumn European Championship qualifiers, Caroline Seger, Magdalena Eriksson and company for human rights manifested. And also at Friends arena on Saturday, before the Olympic recharging against the world champion USA, the stars will kneel as a joint action.
The question has come in further light after international protests against the men’s soccer World Cup in Qatar 2022. In Norway has previously the men’s national team taken a stand against the conditions in the Gulf state. On Thursday, it was the ladies’ turn, when the entire Norwegian women’s national team held an open hand where they each wrote a letter that formed the words “human rights” (“human rights”) before a training match against Belgium.

Sweden is planning no similar action. But the nailed knee bend is enough marking, says back star Magdalena Eriksson at a press conference.
– Of course we think it is good that it gets attention. We will kneel tomorrow as a law, against all forms of discrimination and for human rights.
The team captain and Midfield star Caroline Seger:
– I think that we as a national team have shown quite clearly where we stand, we are very good at taking a stand.
– We as a national team do everything we can, but our position tomorrow is that we will kneel. Of course, it is also a major stance for human rights.
