Celtic have joined Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers in the race to sign Israeli prodigy Oscar Glouch. sport5 claiming that the midfielder has turned down a new contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
In July, after his 18-year-old son was linked to a possible £ 8m move to Rangers, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur, Gloukh’s father tried to allay fears among those who were concerned he was one of the greatest talents to appear in Israeli football may move to the major leagues too early in their development.

“I feel he is more ready than he was a few years ago to move to the big leagues. I see him as a player who can thrive in Europe,” explains Gloukh Sr.
“I’m not saying I’m going to have an easy life. You will have to compete with a lot of players for your seat. (But) if it is possible to leave, it will go away ”.

With Gloukh turning down the opportunity to extend his contract, which expires in December 2023, an exit now seems only a matter of time. The 18-year-old apparently wants a release clause included in every new contract, one that allows him to take control of his future. Maccabi Tel Aviv, however, is not very keen on the idea.
Hence the dead end.
“The greatest talent in Israeli football today is, of course, Oscar Gloch.” explains luis vicente matteo who trained with Maccabi Haifa.
“Not only is he one of the greatest talent in Israel, he is one of the greatest talent in Europe. The problem is that clubs sometimes block players in order not to lose them. (Gloukh) has shown that he can play at a high level at Maccabi Tel Aviv. But he has to take the next step to continue his development and raise his level.
“If he stays at Maccabi Tel Aviv for two or three years, he could disappear. It is easier to take the next step in Europe ”.
Scottish sun in the summer he claimed that the Rangers were exploring Gloukh; a blazing midfielder who breaks the defense. The teenager was the shining star of the Israeli team that reached the final of the European Under 19 Championship.
Rangers aren’t the only Glasgow giants to show interest either. Celtic, says Sport5, are one of “the most serious contenders for Gloukh’s signing, along with Marseille, Lille and Stade Brest.”
