The First Toroscience Congress: Exploring the Science Behind Bullfighting

The first Toroscience congress organized by the Provincial Bullfighting Federation of Guadalajara with the support of the Guadalajara City Council was held this Saturday, November 4, at the San José Center, giving the opportunity to professionals in the sector and bullfighting fans, to train in a scientific approach to bullfighting under the prism of various topics such as law, sports, marketing or veterinary medicine.

The bullfighting councilor, Santiago López, was in charge of closing this training day, which included nine professional speakers, and was inaugurated by the first deputy mayor Javier Toquero.

Santiago López has described this event as “pioneer and the only one that has united bullfighting and science in a masterful way and has thanked the Provincial Bullfighting Federation of Guadalajara, the organization of this congress, “which has been an example of commitment, professionalism and passion for the national holiday.

“Throughout the day we have had the opportunity to attend some high-level presentations, which have shown us the most relevant and innovative aspects that are being investigated and applied to the bull of

fights, from genetics, biology, medicine, physics or chemistry, among other disciplines,” the bullfighting councilor detailed.

He wanted to recognize the work and contribution of all the speakers, “who have been able to transmit their knowledge and experience to us with clarity and enthusiasm, and who have responded to all our doubts and concerns” and the interest of all attendees.

“Guadalajara is, without a doubt, a bullfighting city par excellence, which preserves and disseminates the art and culture of bullfighting. The Guadalajara City Council supports bullfighting as it respects the freedom and cultural diversity of people, since a single vision cannot be imposed on what is ethical or moral,” concluded Santiago López, highlighting the municipal support for the bullfighting festival.
