After an initial CDC test showed that the four patients did not have the new coronavirus, they were released on Sunday and returned to the 14-day federal quarantine in Miramar, the University of California’s San Diego Health hospital said in a statement. .
“This morning, CDC officials informed San Diego Public Health that more tests revealed that one of the four patients tested positive for (new coronavirus),” the hospital said in a statement. “The confirmed positive patient was returned to UC San Diego Health for observation and isolation until the CDC authorized him for release.”
Another person in Miramar was also hospitalized on Monday afternoon and was being screened for the coronavirus. Both patients “are fine and have minimal symptoms,” the hospital said.
The case of San Diego is number 13 confirmed in the United States and seventh in California. Eleven of these cases have been confirmed in people who recently traveled to Wuhan, China; the other two are cases of transmission from person to person.
