Danny Seabright, Chairman of the US-UAE Business Council, stressed that the COP28 Conference of the Parties constitutes a historic opportunity for countries to better curb climate change through tools such as finance, technology and capacity building.
In his statements on the sidelines of the twenty-eighth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Seabright said that the world is going through a moment of movement, and the factors causing climate change must be dealt with quickly, otherwise there will be dire consequences for humanity.
He pointed out that the current version of the Conference of the Parties is unique, especially since the UAE asks participants to submit concrete plans on how to implement sustainability initiatives, as it succeeded in bringing participants to the negotiating table to develop an implementable plan to stop the rise in the temperature of the planet.
Seabright explained that the UAE, through its presidency of the conference, plans to leave its mark by ensuring that the COP 28 is influential on all fronts, including mitigation and adaptation, financing, losses, and damages. (wham)
