Feminism back out in the streets today, march 8, International Women’s day, to report that, despite progress, it remains discrimination and inequality. In A Coruñathe manifestation will depart at 12 noon from the Obelisk to conclude in the plaza of the Cigar, before the old tobacco factory.
The feminist groups also aim to raise the visibility of the role of care exercised by women in over 80 per cent of homes in Galicia and that is the “center of life” social, family and economic according to the platform of the Galician 8M.
This International Day of Working Women will be celebrated from north to south and from east to west across the Community through various demonstrations and concentrations in the seven main galician cities and other localities that will stain purple for the occasion, after starring days historical in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The demonstrations in other cities
From noon the citizens is called to go out to the street and manifest itself also in Ferrol (from the Inferniño) and in Lugo (since the Purpose of the Xunta). Thus, some cities will be the big acts at the morning and other in the afternoon.
In Santiago the demonstration will start at 19: 30 hours at the Praza march 8; in Vigo will be at 18.00 hours from the junction of the Road North; in Ourense you will leave at 20.00 hours of the offices of the central Government and in Pontevedra is called to the 17,30 hours from the Praza do Hospital.

The goal of the relocation is still pursuing this Sunday, so there will be demonstrations in the municipalities of Vilalba, As Pontes, Sada, Betanzos, Arteixo, Carballo, Sarria, Padrón, A Estrada, Cuntis, Chantada, Monforte, Allariz, A Ramallosa, or Marin, among many other nuclei of population gallegos.
In the programming of this 8M also, we have organised demonstrations to bring together counties as a whole. Foz will be the site of the demonstration unit in A Mariña lucense to 12.00 hours and Eec the of Costa da Morte at the same time.
Locations as Vimianzo will be a batucada feminista, at 20.30 hours, and other town councils will enjoy foliated, meals and gatherings under the umbrella of equality. The same premise follows an initiative in A Pobra de Trives where there will be a 3 kilometers hike to the 11,00 hours.
Beyond the borders of the Community, the galician diaspora (in Argentina) call for a feminist march at 16.00 hours in the afternoon in Buenos Aires (Chacabuco 955).
Destroy the patriarchy
From any point of the map, the feminist galician give voice to a movement that every year it gains in strength and is addressed from different perspectives. The discrepancies in matters as questioned as prostitution, wombs for rent, or gender identity will not be an impediment to join forces one day as symbolic as this Sunday.
‘Destroy the patriarchy’ is the goal we all pursue, to get women free from violence sexist and also free of own social stereotypes that still prevail and marked dynamics in the public sphere, political and economic.
