Fake news from Bulgaria is in the top 5 in Europe. The study, conducted by the European Observatory for Digital Media and cited by BNT, shows that the topic of COVID-19 is subject to the most misinformation. Top stories most often contain forged documents with the logos of the WHO, the Gates Foundation, as well as rich photos and videos.

The fake news that Chief State Health Inspector Angel Kunchev died after a third dose of vaccine is in the top 5 in the European Digital Media Observatory.

In early November, Kunchev had to refute the information about his death on Facebook.

“I’m not in the hospital, I’m even less intubated, what’s more – I have the audacity not to die!”

In the rankings the leader is Poland With a fake story about 22 Polish soldiers killed on the border with Belarus.

In the Netherlands there is a rumor about police protesters killed in The Hague against COVID-19 measures.

In France is gaining popularity fake news for a fivefold increase in the number of footballers with fatal heart disease due to vaccines.

In Ireland the most striking example is about official letters entitling the unvaccinated to visit relatives and friends in hospital.

Digital marketing expert Georgi Malchev explains the viral spread of such news as follows:

Emotions unlock our actions, and our actions are what feed social networks, and they put the highest label on sharing and commenting. With each of your sharing and commenting, you tell the algorithms it’s interesting and they reinforce it.

Studies show that in November, Austria revoked the leadership of Italy and France in terms of fake news. According to experts, checking a news item can take no more than 30 seconds. The key is to look for reliable sources.
