The EU is going to impose sanctions on the Belarusian aviation sector / Article

The European Union (EU) is about to impose sanctions on the Belarusian aviation sector. Representatives of the bloc member states could agree on restrictions already on Friday, June 4.

The media, referring to diplomats, said the restrictions would be imposed on the national airline Belavia, officials of the Ministry of Defense and Transport, the Air Force, Minsk Airport and senior civil aviation industry officials.

The funds of Belarusian legal and natural persons will be frozen, as well as a ban on the entry of persons into the territory of the bloc member states.

The reason for the sanctions is the airline Ryanair forced landing of an airplane Arrest of Minsk and Belarusian opposition and journalist Roman Protasevich and his girlfriend in Minsk. Representatives of the member states of the Union called the incident state piracy and are considering the possibility of extending sanctions against other sectors of the Belarusian economy.
