Mihai Popescu (15 years old) suffers from spastic paraparesis and, from the age of six months, his life has been spent more in hospitals, recovery sanatoriums and physiotherapy sessions. Although he went through moments of nightmare, Mihai is an optimistic and brave young man, who is confident that he will do well.
“Only we know how much we struggled with him. Mihai is our life. We did everything we could to heal him. I took him to the most famous doctors. Everything I had I invested in recovering it. After so many years of therapy, there were already improvements because Mihai had managed to stand up if he was a little supported. The sky collapsed on us that evening of October 30th. Basically, they saved my life because it would have been impossible for me to escape from it alone. I arrived at the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Hospital with burns on 35% of my body. I was very swollen, my mother told me, and my features were barely noticeable. During the first 20 days of hospitalization, they gave me general anesthesia when they changed my bandages. Now, after discharge, I go for a checkup once a week.
