The man in his 40s who is accused of having killed his own mother in Oslo is said to have visited the emergency room in the capital on Friday. There he is said to have provided information that led the emergency services to notify the police.

According to what VG is informed, the man in the emergency room must have provided information that created concern about how the man’s mother was doing.

When they did not get in touch with the woman on the phone, the emergency service sent a message of concern to the police.

The head of intelligence and investigation in the Oslo police district, Grete Lien Metlid, confirms that it was the Oslo municipal emergency service that notified the criminal service in Oslo.

Metlid says that the police were notified at around 16.50 on Friday, after they did not get in touch with the man’s mother.

– The man was arrested an hour later, in another place in Oslo.

Metlid states that the police were contacted by the emergency services on the basis of information they had received, and that they did not come into contact with the woman.

– The police then went to the address and when they got in they found the person dead.

Metlid will not say what specifically triggered the concern at the emergency room.

– We can not go into detail on that now. We have to take a few more interrogations before we can say more about it. The accused had been in contact with the emergency room and in that connection information had emerged which led to them being worried about his mother.

Metlid tells VG that the man agrees to imprisonment, and that the imprisonment meeting will be held as a so-called office business – without a physical court hearing – on Monday. The deceased, who is in his 60s, will also be autopsied on Monday, she says.

– He has been to investigations about the state of health today, and there will be further investigations of the state of health and his mental state, Metlid said to NTB Saturday night.

The man’s defender, lawyer Marijana Lozic, told VG on Sunday morning that her client has not yet taken a position on the accusation.

– He has not been asked about this. So far, only an initial interrogation has been carried out, says the lawyer, who confirms that the man is linked to the time and place of the murder.

Metlid says that a new interrogation of the accused will be held no earlier than next week.

– We must gather more information from both the emergency room / health, witnesses, family and accused. Details of the event and movements are some of the things that need to be mapped further before we can say anything more. Motive, we can not say anything more about now.
