The elected officials of L’Hôpital-Camfrout divided on the future of the premises of the Collectif Craft – L’Hôpital-Camfrout

A controversy had arisen in recent days at L’Hôpital-Camfrout, causing the Collective of artisanal achievements Finis Terrae (Craft) to fear the non-renewal of their lease by the town hall. This would lead, de facto, to the closure of their activities. Instead of their premises, the opening of a restaurant is being considered, a candidate having made himself known.

“Let’s give them some more time”

This last perspective is far from being unanimous within the municipal council. Addressing the mayor, Jean-Jacques Léon, the elected opposition Anaïs Duval set the tone: “Why do you refuse to submit to the vote of the assembly the question of the renewal or not of the lease in favor of Craft?” ? The health crisis has put a stop to their activities! Let’s give them a little more time to show the interest of such a cultural place in our town ”.

Freezing the decision requested

Catherine Musellec, elected from the group “L’Hopi tout Simplement”, took over to demand “the freezing of the decision”, also questioning the mayor “on his reasons for not wanting to extend the lease, with Craft”. Guy Loire, member of the same group, is convinced that “these activities are an asset for the municipality. We could even develop a real cultural entity, to the south of the community territory ”.

Towards an extension of the lease for Craft?

Even within the group of the municipal majority, opinions are mixed. Julie François and Béatrice Pléven wish “a global reflection on the file. Let us collectively reflect on the best way to bring this place to life ”. Jean-Jacques Léon, mayor, says he wants to “revitalize commercial activity” in the town center. “I am often criticized for not doing anything about it,” he explains. We must also review the price of rent, which is currently far too low (…) ”. Before closing the subject, the mayor undertook to resume discussions with Craft, also not closing the door to an extension of their lease for a few months.
