Closed to the public for several months because of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Château d’Angers will meet its visitors from this Wednesday, May 19. Visitors can now prepare for their visit by consulting his website to find out how to visit (reservation, gauge, adaptation of the visit offer, etc.) and the cultural program.

As of the reopening, two temporary exhibitions are to be discovered. At the royal residence, the exhibition “Of fire and sulfur, the army of the Apocalypse. The war in the 14th century ”restores the Apocalypse tapestry in its historical context, a medieval masterpiece unique in the world that the Domaine national du Château d’Angers presents to the public all year round.

In the chapel of the castle, the exhibition “What’s new in the Middle Ages? What Archeology Reveals to Us ”illustrates that the many discoveries made by archaeologists show a more complex and fascinating Middle Ages than previously believed.

In June, July and August, a rich cultural program will offer many other opportunities for visits. In every corner of the gardens, Botero’PoP to “catch” and sculptures by Julien Perrier inspired by the Apocalypse tapestry to locate. Also on the program, entertainment and shows for families and young audiences and original “ghost walks” restoring little-known stories of the fortress’s past.
