Ahead of the 45th anniversary of his disappearance, which falls today, Thursday, the daughter of the Lebanese Shiite cleric, Musa al-Sadr, made fiery statements, confirming that he is still alive in Libyan prisons.

Maliha, the youngest daughter of al-Sadr, said in a television interview, yesterday, Wednesday, that her father and his two companions are alive in prisons in Libya.

It also held the Libyan authorities responsible for their liberation, stressing that the investigations concluded that they were still alive.

Maliha is the youngest daughter of the famous Shiite imam. She is the eldest of three children, Sadr al-Din, Hamid and Hawraa. The boys were born in Iran, while the two girls were born in Lebanon.

Saif al-Islam’s message

Maliha’s statements came in conjunction with a strongly worded letter sent by the son of the late Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam, to the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, (and the head of the Amal Movement founded by al-Sadr), in response to the continued detention of his brother Hannibal in Lebanese prisons 8 years ago, and he refused demands for his release.

The Lebanese judiciary charges Hannibal with “concealing information regarding the fate of al-Sadr and his two companions, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoub and journalist Abbas Badr al-Din.”

It is noteworthy that the famous Shiite cleric, Musa al-Sadr, went missing in Libya in 1978, that is, 45 years ago.

His family believes that he is still alive in a prison, although many Lebanese assume that he has died, especially since if he were alive now, he would be 94 years old.

We found what is believed to be his grave.

And Mustafa Abdel Jalil revealed in 2012, when he was head of the Libyan Interim Transitional Council, in an interview with the Political Memory program on Al-Arabiya, that Imam al-Sadr and his two companions did not travel to Italy.

He also added – and he was Minister of Justice during the Gaddafi era – that he had details about that case that he could not disclose.

He said, “We found what we believe to be al-Sadr’s grave, and exhumed it in the presence of a Lebanese delegation, and we gave them a sample of his body and clothes.”

He also confirmed that the Lebanese team took a sample of all the bodies in the mass grave at the time.

At the time, the Amal Movement denied Abdel Jalil’s words, confirming that DNA tests had proven that it was for another person, and was surprised how Abdel Jalil revealed the details of his conversations with the concerned committee, although they were confidential.
