The World Health Organization (WHO) is investigating a new variant of the SARS-VOC-2 virus, the Mu strain, which has also reached Europe. The new mutation first appeared in Colombia earlier this year.
WHO representatives said that the Mu strain weakens the immune system and has a high resistance to vaccines. 32 cases were found in the UK, according to alephnews.ro.
To date, there are 13 variants of the virus. The most dangerous are Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta, the last of them the most feared.
Mu has not yet arrived in Romania, but there are problems with the other options. Today, 1520 cases have been added. Unfortunately, 33 people died and 345 are at ATI.
So far, in total, over one million Romanians have contracted the virus and over 34,000 have died.
