By Le Figaro with Reuters

The daily number of deaths related to the coronavirus remained stable Thursday in Italy, with 156 deaths counted in the space of 24 hours against 162 and 161 in the two previous days, announced the Italian Civil Protection Agency.

The number of new cases of infection that emerged in the same time period fell slightly to 642 from 813 Tuesday to 665 Wednesday.

Since the start of the epidemic, some 32,486 people have died in Italy, the third country most bereaved by the virus after the United States and Great Britain. The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 228,006 SARS-CoV-2 contaminations recorded since February 21, the date of the outbreak in the north of the country.

The decrease in the number of patients placed in intensive care also continues, with 640 patients still concerned Thursday against 676 the day before and 716 Tuesday.
