The Czech nightingale was again won by Ztracený, and Farna and Balonová scored points among female singers

Ewa Farna won the Czech nightingale in the female singer category this Friday. Last year’s winner Lucie Bílá finished second in the popularity poll, Monika Absolonová came third. The awards in the 61st year of the music competition were presented at the Karlín Forum in Prague.

In the categories of groups and singers, the order of the first three has not changed compared to last year. Kabát won before the groups Mirai and Kryštof, and Marek Ztracený won before Vojtěch Dyk and Richard Krajč among the singers. Václav Neckář entered the hall of fame. Ewa Farna became the absolute nightingale with the largest number of votes from fans. The prize for discovery of the year goes to Tereza Balonová.

Thirty-year-old Farna returned to first place among singers from last year’s second position. “I experienced a wonderful season,” said the visibly moved singer, recalling the October concert in the sold-out Prague O2 arena, which she will repeat at the same venue in March. “I’ve been coming here to hold fists with my colleagues for twenty years and I didn’t expect this at all,” commented Absolonová on her first place on the podium.

Kabat has so far collected 14 firsts in the group category, including this year’s. “We, such rock dinosaurs, defeated the young bands,” pointed out the 58-year-old frontman Josef Vojtek and mentioned that next year Kabát is planning a tour to celebrate 35 years on the scene with an unchanged line-up.

The Mirai group did not accept the award personally, they greeted the audience at the Karlín Forum from the concert in Pardubice.

“I will never take it for granted,” said Marek Ztracený, who placed first in the last three years, when receiving his award. There’s something to it when they say it’s hard to win and even harder to defend, he added.

“Whether I work or not, it doesn’t matter to you, because I’m in second place again,” remarked Vojtěch Dyk, alluding to last year’s award, when he pointed out that he was second, even though he practically did not perform.

Among hip-hoppers and rappers, Calin won ahead of the ATMO music group and Marp. Unlike last year, when the same trio of performers succeeded in a different order and no one came for the award, this year everyone took over the Czech nightingale, even though the winning Calin was only a long way from Brno. The composition was successful in the category Most popular song of Impulse radio listeners Mountains groups O5 and Radeček.

During the festive evening, which, as in the previous two years, was moderated by Ondřej Sokol and Aleš Háma, the groups Kabát, Vesna and Chinaski performed. Monika Bagárová, Jana Kirschner, Eva Burešová, Vojtěch Dyk and Marpo with Troublegang also sang. After 15 years at Český slavík, the audience saw the performance of Helena Vondráčková, who prepared a mix of hits and announced the start of ticket sales for the June birthday concert in the O2 arena. It was sold out in less than an hour. “No, you’re joking. That’s not possible,” Vondráčková could not believe when Leoš Mareš announced the information to her in front of the cameras. Nevertheless, tickets could still be bought on Saturday morning.

The program was closed by Václav Neckář with the group Bacily. The dramaturgy of the evening also commemorated the deceased artists this year. Jitka Čvančarová sang a tribute to Yvonne Přenosilová, and Ondřej Brzobohatý and Igor Timek from the Slovak pop rock group No Name took care of the memory of Vaša Patejdla.

Before announcing the nightingales se according to the Super.cz server an incident took place during the arrival of the 29-year-old singer Jan Bendigo, who was sprinkled with flour by an unknown man and shouted racist insults. The artist then went backstage. According to his partner Lukáš Rejmon, Bendig had a mental breakdown while he was awaiting a performance with Monika Bagárová.

People could always vote for a maximum of six performers in the male, female singer, group and hip hop & rap categories. They chose the discovery of the year from the three nominees.

Last year, when, according to the organizers, a record 2.1 million votes were cast for the most popular performers, the singer and theater actor Jiří Suchý entered the hall of fame, while Lucie Bílá became the Absolute Nightingale. This year, the organizers did not publish the number of voters.

The nationwide survey about the most popular singer and music group was invented in 1962 by the then editor of Mladé svět and later screenwriter, director and cimrmanologist Ladislav Smoljak. Until 1991, it bore the name Golden Nightingale. The rights to organize the poll are now owned by TV Nova.
