Studio Pixar released a new special trailer for her future cartoon “Soul“. In it, special attention was paid to the main character, a black musician, and to what place music occupied in his life.

This topic was chosen for a reason: the creators of the cartoon timed the trailer for the festival of African American culture Essence. And for this, they released another video in which they told how black musicians, artists, screenwriters and animators helped in the creation of “Soul.”-

Director and screenwriter Pete Docter admitted that he embodied many of his own memories and experiences as a hero, a jazz musician Joe Gardner. However, he understood that his white background could ruin everything. And then he called for help from blacks.

The main character of “Souls” was voiced by Jamie Foxx, an actor, singer and comedian, known for the role of Ray Charles in the film “Ray“- for him he received”Oscar“. The consultations also attracted the entire black staff of the studio, and not only.

Black musicians took part in the work on Soul: Herbie Hancock, Terry Lyn Carrington, John Baptiste, Questlove, David Diggs and others. The studio also emphasizes that Bradford Young, a black cameraman, helped create the film (Arrival»).

The premiere of the cartoon “Soul” will be held on November 20. As for the Essence festival, this year it was canceled due to the coronavirus. But certain events are held online.-
