The Crab Nebula, the Result of a Supernova Explosion

Categorized as an electron capture supernova (electron capture supernova), the 2018zd supernova is suspected to be the source of the creation of nebulae or space dust. In space observations, nebulae are beautiful objects that are also observed.
Alex Filippenko, a professor of astronomy at the University of California, Berkeley, said the images obtained from the Hubble telescope showing the star before and after it exploded helped them confirm the type of supernova that occurred.
He suspects the type of electron-capturing supernova is responsible for the nebula that adorns the sky. In 1054, a stellar explosion occurred in the Milky Way galaxy that was so bright it could be seen during the day worldwide for 23 days and remained visible in the night sky for nearly two years.
The result of this supernova is the famous Crab Nebula. The nebula has been a point of fascination for astronomers for years. With this research, they now believe that the nebula from the exploding star is of an electron-catching type of supernova.
The brightness of the 2018zd supernova supernova was likely enhanced by material ejected by the explosion colliding with material previously released from the star.
“I am thrilled that an electron-capturing supernova has finally been discovered, which my colleagues and I predicted existed and had a connection to the Crab Nebula 40 years ago,” said University of Tokyo astronomer Ken’ichi Nomoto.
Staff scientist at Las Cumbres Observatory and teaching staff at the University of California, Santa Barbara, who was also involved in the research, revealed that the 2018zd supernova actually helped them to decode thousands of years of records from cultures around the world.
The supernova helped to link one thing that wasn’t fully understood. The research results teach about the basic physics of how neutron stars are made, how extreme stars live and die. In addition, the stellar explosion provides clues about the elements of the universe formed and dispersed. hi/I-1
