The vice president of the Legislative Assembly, Suecy Callejas, highlighted how the country is taking a “huge” leap in innovation, with the opening of a Google office, inaugurated yesterday by President Nayib Bukele.
For the legislator, the agreement with Google will allow the national registry and permit system to be modernized. Likewise, it will strengthen the health and education system.
The representative stated that in the past there were many attempts to promote the issue of innovation, however, they did not give results, and therefore El Salvador must knock on doors to gain confidence and opportunities.
He questioned that “There are many people criticizing (the opening of Google in the country), however, it is real that we need the support of companies like Google. We are not a country that is already in the digital age, we are still making the leap towards this new model”held.
He stressed that it is important to integrate digital preparation into education programs. In 2020, the digital divide began to be closed through the delivery of tablets and computers nationwide to students, she recalled.
