This week, Renault in collaboration with TheArsenale announced the reinvention of the legendary Renault 4 as a true flying car. The recent announcement is part of a tribute by the automaker to the classic French car 60 years after its launch.

The new Renault Air 4 is a fully functional aerial vehicle that fuses current drone technology with the appearance of the classic Renault 4. It has a frame made entirely of carbon fiber, adapted to the thrust concepts necessary for air travel. Also, with a design very different from the flying racing cars that have been announced.

Similarly, the Air 4 is powered by 22,000 mAh lithium batteries capable of generating up to 90,000 mAh of total power. In addition, it has four double blade propellers with a maximum thrust of 209 pounds, achieving a total elevation of around 840 pounds and 700 meters high at full power.

The driver must lift the frame of the vehicle from the front to gain access to the interior of the vehicle. This has a takeoff speed of 14 meters per second, which for safety was limited to 4 meters per second. What’s more, achieves a horizontal flight speed of 26 meters per second at a 45 degree incline.

Until now, Renault’s new flying car will be exhibited at the Atelier Renault museum in Paris. Similarly, its arrival in New York, Miami and Macau is expected in 2022. A high-caliber project that revives a classic in the modern world.
