With a view to its next exhibitions, the Archives service of the City of Narbonne (Aude) launches an appeal for loans or donations of documents from the inhabitants to bear witness to the history of all the districts of the city.
An exhibition
All themes and all documents dating from before 2000 are accepted until the end of February. The objective: to help create an annual exhibition on the history of each Narbonne district.
With the success of the virtual exhibition “Narbonne, time and space” which can be consulted on www.narbonne.fr/narbonne-temps-espace, the Municipal Archives of the City wished to decline this project through the different districts. 2022 will be dedicated to the Cité district, then in 2023 that of Bourg, the oldest inhabited historically, to expand in the following years to more recent districts: Razimbaud, Egassiairal, Narbonne-Plage, Saint-Jean-Saint-Pierre, Les Hauts-de-Narbonne…
Testimonies of daily life
In order to complete its current collections and involve the inhabitants, the management of the Archives wishes to solicit the people of Narbonne in order to recover testimonies of daily life in Narbonne.
All documents dating from before 2000 are accepted: photographs, postcards, invoices on letterheads from Narbonnaise companies, souvenirs of commemorations and speeches, tickets or programs from cinemas or theaters that have disappeared, tickets to the stadium, etc.
During Heritage Days
Clearly, what has made and brought the city to life: schools, stadiums, former Narbonne associations, companies, shops, events…
The documents should be sent by email to [email protected] before the end of February. Following this, the donated and loaned documents will be selected, scanned, sorted and prepared for the exhibition which will be launched during the European Heritage Days which usually take place on the third weekend of September.
