China’s apparel industry experienced steady expansion in terms of revenue, profits and exports in the first eight months of this year, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The combined operating revenues of the country’s top 13,117 apparel companies reached 950.4 billion yuan (about 133.86 billion US dollars) during the period, up 3.7% year-on-year, according to the ministry.
These companies achieved total profits of 43.6 billion yuan from January to August, up 3.4% year-on-year.
Over the same period, the industry’s apparel exports increased 17% year-on-year to $ 104.4 billion.
