We would almost forget that we are ten minutes by bike from the city center of Chartres (Eure-et-Loir). Nestled in the middle of the trees and finding their location before those of the motorhomes, four ecolodges complete the offer of the Chartres campsite.
This is THE great novelty of the season: C’Chartres Tourisme wanted to give back a golden image at the Chartres campsite and it’s done, especially with this new rather unusual accommodation offer which is very close to the « glamping », understand that glamorous camping.
The SPL of Chartres has invested 30,000 € to afford these beautiful jewels, made in France by the specialist triganoto Mamers (Sarthe).
Moorea and Bali
The first two “Moorea” tents can accommodate up to two travelers and have two beds. The plus, installed by the manager Alan Perny: electricity and therefore the possibility of recharging the batteries before, for example, for cyclists to set off again on the mop.
The price per night is 39 € in low season et €49 for summer. “We want to stay within a reasonable price range,” assures Philippe Rossat, director of the Chartres Métropole Tourist Office.

€439 for the large luxury tent
The same conduct applies to “Bali” ecolodges five persons. It takes about 439 € for a week. These have 36 m² with a wooden terrace on stilts, a small kitchen with fridge and refrigerator and two bedrooms: one with a double bed, the other with a bunk bed including a double bed. .

New toilets: great luxury
Pour sanitary facilities, you will have to walk a few extra meters and go to the common areas of the Chartres campsite, which are also brand new. “The City has invested €300,000 for the major developments,” recalls Isabelle Mesnard, president of C’Chartres Tourisme.
Gone are the toilet blocks or showers that dated from the 60s and make way for brighter and more modern sanitary facilities.

The conquered tourists
With all these changes, there is no doubt that the Chartres campsite will retain its three stars and above all, will delight tourists.
The concept of ecolodges in this green setting is already attractive. The equipment, installed at the end of last week, has been reserved from the first night. The managers of the campsite also tell us that a cyclist, who came to camp with her own equipment, finally fell in love with this accommodation and spent the night inside.
Happy days are looming on the banks of the Eure…
