WhatsApp is the app most used mobile messaging service in the world, which is why millions of people follow the news and updates that Facebook, its owner, plans every year. This time, the changes are linked to the design and the much-talked about “multi-device”.
The app already had complications in early 2021 when it tried to change the terms and conditions of users to start sharing information with the social network Facebook. In this way, the conglomerate of Mark Zuckerberg could put together a more detailed profile of each user so that the algorithm shows them personalized advertising, among other things.
However, this update is not linked to the personal data of the users, rather with the functionalities. WhatsApp already made an advance several months ago and it will finally become a reality: they will be available for all devices in the coming weeks.
Design changes
The design changes will be very subtle, but it’s been so many years using WhatsApp that users will instantly notice. One of them is that they will change the bubble format of the chats to be more similar to Facebook Messenger, the messaging application of said social network. This will be a way to identify both brands.
The design of the messages that appear in the chats will be more square, with a slight rounding at the ends to modernize the dissemination of information. Beta users of version 2.21.13.2 already have these changes available, they just need to update the app.
A change that is expected by many is the one that allows changing the color of the interface and the text. WhatsApp listened to the recommendations and decided to make it a reality to also compete with Telegram, a messaging app that became relevant several months ago and grew exponentially.
The WaBetaInfo portal revealed that the idea is to be able to personalize the chats although it is not yet known if it is about new color themes or a new color control. For example, they could offer the dark mode (as in Twitter) with the letters of the platform in green, instead of the traditional blue and white color.
Multi-device: it would allow to connect in several devices
The multi-device version will allow users to connect their WhatsApp account on multiple devices at the same time. For example, you can have the session open on two smartphones, on the computer and on the tablet without affecting all devices.
The experts who were with this project explained that they had to rewrite some parts of the core code of the application “to be compatible with multiple devices.” For this reason, the developers consider it a “technological challenge“and it will arrive in the next few months.
Do you like these new modifications? What do you expect in a future of WhatsApp?
