The Twitter view counter may soon be hidden. This was announced by Elon Musk.
Just a few days ago, Chirping was implementing a new feature. Feature that allows users to see a real-time measurement of the engagement on their tweets, the view counter. At least this was the primary intention behind the implementation of this novelty. But as with a large number of items on the platform, this novelty arouses very mixed reactions.

Just recently, Elon Musk tweeted that Twitter would be “overhauling the aesthetics and adding a setting to turn off the display of this meter, but I think everyone will like it in the end.”
The feature was introduced on December 22, with the US billionaire saying that doing so would make Twitter more “alive” than it has been until now. And to add that, if the likes and other retweets are quite public, the views are passive.

Some like this feature, such as Twitter founder Jack Dorsey who replied: “Great. Much more useful information.” But others have completely different opinion, some users find it useless and unhealthy. One user even called the novelty “too cluttered,” prompting Elon Musk’s response that a setting would appear to disable its display. At the time of writing these lines, the latter does not yet exist.
As for which tweets have this view counter, the answer is simple: nearly all tweets are affected, according to the Twitter Help Center, with three exceptions: tweets from communities, tweets in a Twitter Circle, and old tweets. . Twitter communities are groups of like-minded users, just like Facebook groups, while Twitter circles are defined by the users themselves, like a mailing list.
