The bug in iOS makes others think that you have silenced notifications

Recently, some users have found that their contacts, which used to be always available, suddenly started having Do Not Disturb mode activated too often in the iPhone.

When an Imessage contact has Do Not Disturb mode (or another focus mode that mutes notifications) turned on, Messages will tell you about it when you send a message. You can then choose to notify the contact anyway, if it’s something important.

The bug, like from 9 to 5 Mac reports, it can be in the Imessage system or in IOS and states that Imessage does not understand that you have disabled Do Not Disturb. The only thing that seems to fix the problem so far is toggle Do Not Disturb or another focus mode on and off, as opposed to the old familiar advice of toggling something on and off.

Whether this is a bug in the status message is clear, as sent messages generate notifications and sounds as they should to the recipient even when it says they are muted to the sender.
