British Health Minister Matt Henkock announced his resignation on Saturday, June 26, in response to a publicly recorded video recording of him kissing his helper, in violation of national restrictions on Covid-19.
A recording made in early May, released on Friday, June 25, records the minister hugging and kissing his assistant, Gin Colodangelo.
In a resignation letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Hancock writes: “At the very least, I want my private life to distract from the main focus – how to get out of this crisis.”
“I want to apologize for breaking the rules and ask forgiveness for my family and loved ones for letting them experience it. I also have to be with my children during this time, ”he said.
In a video speech published on Twitter, the Minister said: “I am aware of the great sacrifices made by each of you in this country, and we who have set such rules must stick to them, which is why I resigned.”
Johnson regretted the minister’s decision and replied that Hancock could be proud of what he had done in his post, not only during the pandemic, but also before.
“You have faced a greater challenge than your predecessors, and you have faced this challenge in the fight against Covid-19 with your inherent energy, intelligence and determination,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
