The Bibliobús resumes its routes in Zaragoza with online book reservations

The Bibliobus will finally leave its garage after a year and a half in dry dock due to the pandemic. This service, which runs through the neighborhoods of Zaragoza that do not have a municipal library to offer their neighbors the loan books, returns with a renewed image and with changes in the delivery system.

Specifically, starting in September, users will be able to do the reservation of loans through the new catalog online and collect them in the Bibliobús itself, a system “designed to prevent the transit of people in such a small space,” according to municipal sources.

The new contract that will manage the service was awarded at the beginning of the year, but due to the pandemic situation it has not been possible to start up. Among its routes, the Bibliobús will go to neighborhoods such as Juslibol, San Gregorio, Parque Venecia, Vadorrey or Montañana, which do not have a municipal library.

What’s new in libraries

Precisely the network of municipal libraries prepares news for the new course after the summer holidays. As reported yesterday by the City Council, the centers release improvements in their ‘online’ catalog, to make it “more intuitive and attractive.”

“The improvements are substantial, in addition to facilitating the day-to-day life of our workers, users will be able to enjoy greater benefits”, said the Councilor for Education, Paloma Espinosa.

The portal has also launched a section of recommended bibliographies organized by topic. One of the first that has been selected as a recommendation is that of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Another novelty is the expansion of the number of simultaneous loans that can be made, up to 12 titles, and for a longer period, up to 28 days. Finally, given the evolution of the pandemic, the quarantines of materials are terminated, although the limited capacity of 75% remains.
