Ever since it was announced that Bruce Willis was suffering from aphasia and was giving up his acting career as a result, it’s certainly not appropriate to slander his performances in his recent films. However, one has to say that the countless direct-to-DVD hits like “Hard Kill”, “Survive The Night”, “Cosmic Sin” or “Deadlock” are of a quality that goes beyond Willis’ mostly rather short appearances anyway , which used to be found only in the back rows of video stores.
However, Bruce Willis’s work could still shine a bit again, because with “White Elephant” we now seem to be expecting a real action board. There is no German release date yet, but it can be assumed that the film will only be released on DVD and Blu-ray in this country. But “White Elephant” is interesting because of its director: Jesse V. Johnson took over the staging – and he has been an important address in today’s B-movie action genre for several years.

The first trailer that has now been released by “White Elephant” makes it clear very quickly that things are not only leaden, but also extremely rough – and that’s what Jesse V. Johnson stands for with his name. With his raw action thrillers like “Triple Threat”, “Savage Dog” and above all “Accident Man”, the man has made a name for himself in the B-movie sector in recent years and is one of the action lovers interesting contemporary filmmakers.
It remains to be seen whether he will be able to fully exploit his technical skills in terms of elegant and powerful exchanges of fire and combat inserts in “White Elephant”. However, one can be sure that the film is far above cucumbers like “Hard Kill” and co. This will also be ensured by the cast, which is really top-class with Michael Rooker (“Guardians Of The Galaxy”), John Malkovich (“Burn After Reading”), Olga Kurylenko (“James Bond 007 – A Quantum of Solace”) and Bruce Willis is.
