KOMPAS.com – The case of an eight-month-old baby’s finger which was cut off by a nurse at the Palembang Muhammadiyah Hospital with the initials DN received the attention of famous lawyer Hotman Paris.
Sri, who is the biological mother of the victim with the initials AR, asked for help through a video uploaded to the Instagram account @Hotmanparisofficial.
In the video, Sri asks Hotman for legal assistance in the case of her baby who was the victim of negligence by a nurse.
“Now my baby is being treated at the Palembang Private Hospital, Mr. Hotman asks for your help in completing the legal process. I ask for justice with Mr. Hotman Paris. Thank you,” said Sri.

Hotman also responded to a request from Sri.
He admitted that the actions of the unscrupulous nurse who made AR lose his little finger was a criminal act listed in article 360 of the Criminal Code.
In that article, it is written that whoever because of his mistake causes another person to get seriously injured is threatened with a maximum imprisonment of five years.
“This morning I was contacted by Sri’s mother from Palembang, regarding the incident of her baby girl’s finger which was almost cut off or cut off, because the nurse at the hospital did when she opened the infusion in her hand, maybe the bandage was cut off. The legal process is ongoing and it is also the responsibility of the hospital,” said Hotman.
Hotman also admitted that until now the family was still coordinating with him regarding the incident.
“Currently Mrs. Sri is still contacting me to ask for further data. The family is still coordinating with me,” he said.
The nurse is a suspect
In this case, investigators from the Satreskrim Polrestabes Palembang named DN, the nurse who cut off the baby girl’s finger as a suspect for the negligence she had committed.
The determination of the suspect was made after investigators examined 7 witnesses including DN.
“As a result of the case title, investigators named DN as a suspect,” said Palembang Police Chief, Kombes Pol Mokhamad Ngajib, Monday.
Ngajib explained, from the title of the case that was conducted, DN had previously been reminded by the AR victim’s parents to be careful when fixing the infusion tube that was attached to their hand.
However, the perpetrators did not listen to this warning, so he took the scissors and AR’s little finger was also cut off.
“DN was not careful, so we should suspect the nurse’s negligence, because we had been warned beforehand,” he explained.
So far, the police have named only one suspect for the incident.
Investigators will continue to develop other suspect suspects.
“Later it will be seen again whether there are other actors who helped in the incident,” he explained.

Beginning of the case
Previously, an eight-month-old baby girl with the initials AR had to lose her little finger because a hospital nurse cut her with scissors.
As a result of this incident, Suparman (38), the parent of the baby, is now reporting the nurse to the Palembang Police because their child has lost his little finger.
Suparman said that initially on Friday (3/2/2023), his son was taken to the Palembang Muhammadiyah Hospital because he had a high fever.
Then, AR also had to undergo treatment and have an IV tube installed in his right hand.
While being treated, the AR infusion tube became clogged so that Suparman’s wife called the nurse to fix the infusion.
“The nurse had trouble opening the bandages to fix my child’s IV tube. Because it didn’t open, he then took a pair of scissors to cut the bandage, but my child’s little finger was also cut off,” said Suparman, when making the report, Saturday.
