The Toyota bZ4X electric car was officially released at the 2022 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) automotive exhibition. This environmentally friendly SUV was released on the first day of GIIAS 2022, Thursday (11/8/2022).
As explained by the Vice President Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Henry Tanoto, Toyota not only presents three brands (GR, Toyota, Lexus) at GIIAS 2022, but also presents all options and technologies, especially electrification vehicle technology in Indonesia.
“Through a multi-path strategy, Toyota and Lexus have produced 11 electrification models with complete options and technologies. Not only Hybrid EV, we also have Hybrid Plug-in EV, but also EV batteries, to provide mobility options according to people’s needs. This is a Toyota’s efforts to encourage people to contribute to reducing carbon emissions,” said Henry at the GIIAS 2022 arena, ICE, BSD City, Tangerang, Thursday (11/8/2022).

Henry added that currently Toyota has sold around 6,600 electrified vehicles until July 11, 2022. This figure has the potential to reduce 25,000 tons of CO2.
“In line with the positive reception of the community, at GIIAS this time we will display the Toyota bZ4X model, which is part of our commitment to introduce more battery EV options in the future in Indonesia,” continued Henry.
For your information, the Toyota bZ4X electric SUV is produced in Japan and China. In appearance, the bZ4X has a futuristic look. This car has a small hexagonal grille at the bottom and there are a kind of vertical gills at the right and left ends.

This car is a joint development with Subaru. The Toyota bZ4X will use the e-TNGA platform which has been designed for Toyota electric vehicles.
bZ stands for Beyond Zero and is the name for Toyota’s upcoming family of electric vehicles. The company has filed trademarks for the bZ1X through to the bZ5X.
In terms of performance, the bZ4X uses a 355 Volt lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 71.4 kWh. The battery is buried under the floor and has a temperature controller for efficiency. Once fully charged, this car can reach a distance of up to 500 km for the FWD type and 460 km for the AWD type. The battery supports AC charging up to 6.6 kW and DC charging up to 150 kW, which can charge 80 percent in 30 minutes.
Toyota claims the battery capacity will remain 90 percent of its initial condition after 10 years of use or 240,000 km. At the same time, there is a high level of battery cell safety including battery over voltage, current and temperature monitoring features, contamination removal plus high resistance cooling.
In terms of power, the Toyota bZ4X FWD comes with a single front-mounted electric motor. The electric motor can generate power up to 201 hp with acceleration from 0-100 km / h can be reached in 8.4 seconds.
While the AWD variant is equipped with two electric motors at the front and rear. Each can produce 107 hp with a combined output of 215 hp. Despite being 85 kg heavier, the Toyota bZ4X AWD can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds.
In several European countries, this car was released with a tag of £41,950 or the equivalent of Rp. 750 million.
